Q4 FY Earnings Release (data as of March 31st, 2024)
Explanatory Materials

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Nintendo Switch sold in 1.96m units in Q4

  • Switch LTD total has now reached 141.32m units

  • Nintendo beat it’s revised forecast of 15.5m units by 200k units (15.7m)

  • Nintendo shattered its revised software forecast of 190m units by 9.67m (199.67m)

Impressive performance for Switch in its seventh year. Nintendo's 2025 Switch forecasts are very intriguing:

  • Nintendo Switch FY2025 Hardware Forecast: 13.5m

  • Nintendo Switch FY2025 Software Forecast: 165m

Nintendo expecting to sell 13.5 million Switch units and 165m pieces of software tells me they have something cooking for the latter half of this year. We do know we are getting a Nintendo Direct next month and I am really looking forward to it after seeing these forecast numbers.

The 13.5m hardware number is wild to me. I expected a 10m forecast:

If Nintendo hits this new 13.5m forecast, that would put Switch LTD at 154.82 at this time next year. Even with Jim Ryan revising the Playstation 2’s LTD up to 160 million units very recently, it still may not be safe from the Switch after all.

The Top 10 Best-Selling software units list (which should be top 20) is updated:

Now to wait for the Nintendo Direct in June to hopefully get some context for these bullish forecasts! In addition to software, there could actually be price cut and/or value-added bundles Nintendo could get creative with as well.
