Sony’s Q1 Financials

Back in February, we weren’t very confident at all that Sony would hit its increased Playstation 5 hardware projections. At that point, they were really far off and yet, increased their projections by a million units. We figured channel stuffing would be in order but we didn’t think Sony would actually reach the forecasts.

We were wrong!

19.1 million for the fiscal year. What a comeback.

Sony is expecting to ship 25 million units for this current fiscal year:

Software sales weren’t as impressive - declining YoY from 70.5 million units to 68 million units (-3.5%).

The full article can be found here and is a bit pessimistic on the software side of things. As the PS5 install base increases, we expect software sales to stabilize and eventually begin to increase.
