Switch passes PS2 LTD in the US

The Nintendo Switch just hit a huge milestone—it’s now officially surpassed the PlayStation 2’s lifetime sales in the United States. As of November 30, 2024, the Switch has sold an impressive 46.6 million units in the States, overtaking the PS2 to become the second best-selling console in U.S. history. Now the only system left for it to catch is the Nintendo DS.

Globally, the Switch has sold over 146 million units, putting it in striking distance of the Nintendo DS (154 million) and still a bit behind the PlayStation 2’s recently updated figure of over 160 million units.

It’s incredible to think how the Switch, now nearing the end of its lifecycle, continues to break records and cement its place in gaming history.

And it still hasn’t had a price drop yet - so there’s a lot more room to run.
