On a random Tuesday out of nowhere…

On Tuesday, October 29th in this year 2024, Nintendo did something so unexpected…

I had given up on this ever coming over at this point. So when this news hit, I had a bit of a meltdown on my Instagram page. I was on Cloud 9 with this news! Look how much I was coping and port-begging on my Twitter feed before the announcement:

The fact that Nintendo chose to shadow-drop the announce trailer only adds to the excitement—no buildup, no lead-in, just pure shock and elation for fans like me. The last time I felt like this was when Metroid Prime Remaster shadowdropped onto Switch last year! It feels almost surreal to see the long-lost game getting the revival it deserves on a modern platform.

Xenoblade Chronicles X and I have unfinished business. I got about 40 - 45 hours into the game and finally got a serviceable Skell. I had to put the game down for a bit and tried to pick it back up. I modeled my main character after my ex-girlfriend and just didn’t want to play with that character anymore! I’ve been waiting for a port to Switch ever since because I didn’t want to start the game over on Wii U.

The thought of re-exploring Mira on the Switch is already blowing my mind. Here’s hoping this version will have all the quality-of-life improvements - especially curious to see how they’ll handle the Gamepad functionality. I expect some visual upgrades as well, so I anticipate viewing the inevitable Digital Foundry video tech review when it drops.

All and all, this was a great surprise! Can’t wait until March!
