Sony’s Q3 Financial Report

First, shot out to Oscar from Install Base Forums for putting together a lovely post compiling all the data Sony released for Q3 FY2023 here.

This photo above shows my favorite part of any report - hardware and software sales!

The PS5 had a massive leap year-over-year in Q3 - from 4.9 million units to 7.1 million units - a whole 82% increase! PS5’s are certainly finding their way to shelves now! 2023 will be interesting with an aging Switch and PS5 & XBox Series coming into its own.

I discuss my predications for Switch hardware when Nintendo’s report is released - on the 7th, I believe(?).

So far, Sony has sold 12.8 million PS5 units this fiscal year. They projected 18 milliion. I don’t think they are going to make it. 5.2 million units in Q4 is not likely unless they stuff the channel immensely and I don’t think that’s realistic at all. Or is it?

Sony raised projections from 18 million to 19 million - meaning they’ll need to ship 6.2 million units from January through March!

I am very interested to see how this plays out. What does Sony have up their sleeve?
