HIGHLIGHTS:

• Sony shipped 9.5 million PlayStation 5 units in the last quarter (bringing LTD to 75 million units)

• Software totaled 95.9million (up 7% YoY)

• Operating Income up by 37%

What an absolutely massive quarter for Playstation. After thinking last year was peak year for the PS5, this year might actually be. Sony is likely to meet or exceed its goal of 18 million by the end of Q4.

After these results, people expect the PS5 to do better than the PS4. I'm uncertain, but I will never doubt the PS5! With Microsoft shifting away from the traditional console race, the PS5 is positioning itself as the go-to high-end gaming system. It’ll be interesting to see how Sony maintains this momentum, especially as talk of next-gen hardware starts to surface.
